‘Capsized’ lorry shuts A53 as police and paramedics alerted

Police and paramedics were called out to a busy North Staffordshire road after a truck 'capsized'. The incident on the A53 through Baldwins Gate left the route 'partially blocked' for a number of hours.

As reported by StokeonTrentLive ^[1] the road was initially shut before traffic was able to get through as emergency services dealt with the crash. Today Staffordshire Police ^[2] have said officers were called out to a lorry that had 'capsized' at around 5.15pm.

West Midlands Ambulance Service says the trucker was able to be discharged at the scene.

An ambulance service spokeswoman said: "We were called to a road traffic collision involving a lorry on Newcastle Road, in Baldwins Gate. One ambulance, a paramedic officer, and a critical care car from Midland Air Ambulance attended the scene.

"Upon arrival we found a man who was the driver of the lorry. He did not require treatment from ambulance staff and received self-care advice before being discharged at the scene.”
