Tech company Qualcomm to make up to 150 job cuts in Cambridge

Qualcomm has reportedly told 149 employees at its Cambridge[1] Business Park branch that their jobs[2] are at risk. An anonymous source within Qualcomm stated that the company explained the situation to staff on Wednesday (September 27), and that a 45-day period of consultation had started.

Managers at Qualcomm gave the financial situation of the company as the reason for the job cuts, the source claimed. Many areas of the business, from managers to engineers, are said to be impacted.

Business Today reported in April that the US-based company planned to lay off five per cent of its staff due to ‘a drop in sales and the ongoing tech slowdown’, according to the magazine’s sources. Qualcomm creates semiconductors, software, and services related to wireless technology.

Qualcomm has been contacted for comment, but had not responded at time of publication.
