Water and electricity returning to Baldock industrial estate

Affinity Water have been on site and begun work to enable a temporary fresh water supply to be provided to premises on the industrial estate.

They are in regular contact with Brown & Lee, the agents who manage the estate, about the restoration of supplies.

Meanwhile, work has also begun on the process of reconnecting gas and electricity supplies to the businesses that were not directly affected by the fire.

Business owners can receive further details about the restoration by contacting Brown & Lee.

Businesses located in the industrial estate are recovering following the fire that broke out on Tuesday, July 11[1].

Firefighters tackled the blaze overnight and were able to extinguish it the following day, with help from the local community[3].

It was later confirmed[4] that the fire had begun accidentally, in the flue of a wood-burning water boiler.

More than 40 units were affected by the inferno, with some premises destroyed completely.

Offers of help have been forthcoming, with Hertfordshire County Council inviting any businesses now looking for new premises to emailĀ [email protected].

Money has also been raised for those whose livelihoods have been ruined, with the Engine pub in Baldock recently hosting a weekend fundraiser.
